Open ball finials have always been unusual. To be honest, we’re not really sure why they were done this way. We can wonder if it was a cost saving strategy from the time-when materials were wildly expensive and labor was not. This open top has great lovely filigreed edges which dress it up. As with all of our finials-this is a lost wax cast copy of a specific period original.
